Artists , remember to document your work

As Artists , it is always important to document your work.

I recently finished a Portrait Commission of Paul DeLutis, for the Boardroom of FGI Focus Group Investments.

So I firstly remembered to take a good photo of my Portrait and then with Paul's permission I got a photo of him beside the portrait.

In the past at times I have forgotten to take my advice and once the painting has left home , it's too late usually to get that photo.

I even try to get a video of the work being varnished if I have someone around to hold the phone while I varnish.

You can even get a little video of yourself working on the painting...

All of these images and videos can later be used to promote your work and share on social media and the other thing I try to always do is add the image and details to my records of work.

I use a word document for this and a spreadsheet which my daughter made for me.I add title, medium, Size year and provenance of the work, the owner , if applicable and the price.

You will be surprised about how often you may need this information , and historically its good to keep a recored for your legacy in the future.

Exciting news about my new Portrait Instruction video

Exciting  NEWS

I was recently invited to make a Portrait Instructional video with Streamline Publishing, and below is the resulting Portrait.
I flew to Austin Texas for a five day film shoot and had a wonderful time staying in the “World Famous Artist’s Cabin” at the home of Eric Rhodes and his lovely wife Laurie.
It was a fantastic{and nerve racking}  experience, once I got started my nerves disappeared and working with the film crew was fun.
The video is now being edited, so stay tuned

and sign up for my email newsletter here https://www.vickisullivan.com/

to be notified about when it is ready for release
